The RK-R80 "Professional" from Recording King brings together classic pre-war features and outstanding craftsmanship. Designed and developed under the direction of Greg Rich this banjo with its original "Style 6" peghead and traditional Mother-Of-Pearl inlay pattern is the best Pacific Rim instrument we have seen! The tone and character of its voice are almost scary ~ reminiscent of many pre-war Gibsons we see in our shop. From the metal parts, to the mahogany neck and resonator, to the rich finish the RK-R80 is pure quality. The attention to detail by Rich is evident when you remove the resonator and take a peek inside ~ classic pre-war construction! The flange, 3-ply rim, tone ring, coordinator rods, even the threads on the hex nuts ~
all very familiar to those of us who
work on pre-war Mastertones.
